It is time to start thinking about the fleeces that you will enter in to the ever popular East of England Fleece Show.
The two day event will be held at Essex Young Farmers Centre over the 20th and 21st August 2022. This year we are delighted to announce that Mr Roger Clarke will be show judge.
Could you be the winner of the coveted Spirit of the Industry award, kindly donated to the show by Alpaca Evolution? The stunning trophy and rosette are awarded to the fleece that exemplifies the qualities that will most benefit the British Fibre Industry as it strives to maximise the potential of British Alpaca Fibre. Only fleeces of alpacas three years and over will ber considered and the judge will look for a demonstration of superiority in commercial traits. In particular, fineness, uniformity of all traits, staple length and weight. The trophy will be held by the winner for one year.
Or perhaps it will be the Silver Senior Award presented to the oldest alpaca to achieve a high scoring fleece? To be eligible alpacas should be at least 72+ months in age.
A maximum of 120 entry places will be available when bookings open on 29th June. Entries close on 31st July, or when full.
The entry fee is £16 EAG members/£22 non members (fees include BAS show levy and VAT on the levy). Fees are collected by EAG, who will invoice exhibitors direct – treasurer@easternalpacagroupuk.org
Fleeces should be delivered to the show organiser, Harley Laver, Elmlea, Cold Norton Road, Latchingdon, Essex, CM3 6HP by 11th August. In order for fleeces to be returned to you a return address label must be included with your fleece. Fleeces can be sent on to another show, but only if the show address details are provided.
Happy skirting!
