The results are in! And what a fabulous show it was. Fifteen farms joined us at Beechwood Equestrian Centre, Essex for a weekend of alpaca appraisals and catching up with friends old and new. We are very grateful to everyone who entered and made the weekend such a success.
Thanks must go to our judge, Jo Bridge, for her tireless efforts on the Sunday as over one hundred outstanding alpacas made their way through the show ring. Jo’s oral reasoning was both insightful and entertaining and she managed to make everyone watching the action feel welcomed and involved. Viv Hamilton also deserves a mention for her class introductions and commentary.
Thanks also go to ring steward, Charlie Major, and the team of pen stewards who made sure that everyone was in the right place at the right time. The show also wouldn’t happen without the dedicated volunteers and EAG committee members who turned up early and stayed late to lay flooring, move hurdles, set up electrics and welcome exhibitors among many other tasks! At the helm was show organiser Harley Laver who kept us all in check.
This year Alpaca Products and Free Range Fibre brought a range of alpaca goodies to buy, from scarves and hats to keyrings and socks. Alongside the stalls there was also an area for skirting demonstrations and a chance for members of the public to find out more about alpaca fibre.
On Saturday evening there was an opportunity to catch up with drinks and a meal at the Bell and Chimes in Rettendon Common. There was lots of laughter and a great time was had by all.
