2019 was the second year that EAG staged a halter show. This was again held at Beechwood Equestrian Centre and all of our exhibitors and visitors were enthusiastic about what a great venue it was.

We had a great set of volunteers serving as stewards, setting up and clearing up af terwards. Out thanks to Maddie Ashworth, Rhys Boatwright, Grace Brocklebank, David Cooper, Angela Downes, Katy Gilberts, Ian Hamilton, Viv Hamilton, Cherry Hood, Sally Ilett, Simon Ilett, Shirley Isseyegh, Sandra Justice, Steve Justice, Harley Laver, Karen Mann, Belinda Massenhove, Courtney Quick, Kizzy Quick, Melissa Ruocco Katherine Shearer, Neel Shearer, Emma Taylor, Sam Taylor.

A huge thank you to all of our sponsors as we couldn’t put the show on without their generous support, and of course thank you to all of the exhibitors who brought their alpacas.

After all the exhibitors had seen their alpacas safely settled into their pens on Saturday evening, the event kicked off with a relaxed meal and fun pub quiz at the on-site cafe.

The judge was Mr Tim Hey, was supported by ring Steward Gary Naish. Also present was Ms Jo Bridge who successfully completed her BAS judge recertification. Cafe and Food Sponsors Churchfield Alpacas provided the sustenance to keep them going all day!

Gold sponsors Redens Alpacas, had a particularly successful show, winning champion and reserve black huacaya female, champion black huacaya male, champion brown huacaya male and judges choice huacaya.

Gold sponsors, Artwork Alpacas also walked away with the ribbons, winning Champion brown huacaya female, champion fawn huacaya female and reserve champion light huacaya female.

Silver Sponsor Westpoint Farm Vets were also the official show vets but thankfully there was little need for any hands on practice although Ami was much in demand to talk about alpacas.

Silver sponsors and exhbitors, Pemberley Alpacas, Moat Farm Alpacas and Cold Comfort Alpacas also collected a creditable set of rosettes, with Cold Comfort and Moat Farm also winning Champion and Reserve Champion White Huacaya Male respectively.

Bronze sponsors Pinnacle Alpacas had an impressive collection of 1st and 2nd place rosettes, which along with their Champion Light Male Huacaya, Reserve Champion Fawn Huacaya Male and sash for 2 progeny by one dam, won them the Best EAG Member trophy.

New to the East Anglian scene, MKM Agriculture were also bronze sponsors, as were Dengie Feeds, who also donated bags of feed which helped dress the ring before being raffled off. Plant and Ring Flower sponsor, Emerald Green Feeds also donated bags of feed for ring dressing and raffle prizes and all the exhibitors took away sample bags of Dengie and Emerald Green Feeds in their exhibitor packs.

The public flocked to the only alpaca show in the East of England so the Alpaca Shop stand did a brisk trade in alpaca gifts and clothing.
