Our first event on Saturday 19th September 2015 at Woodbine Farm Alpacas was a great success with 36 people attending. Chris Keeble discussed grass management in the morning and Jo Bridge with Emma Taylor took us through the complexities of fleece skirting for showing and for processing. The emphasis was on correct skirting so that coarser fibres are removed. Lunch was provided, consisting of meat or veggi lasagna with salad and lots of lovely cakes to follow. A raffle was held during the lunch break which made £72. Jo Bridge of Hilly Ridge Alpacas auctioned a mating to her champion suri HillyRidge Balius Blue (co-owned by Viv and Ian of Parkside Suris) and a mating to her reserve champion huacaya Anzac Almost Illegal, which were auctioned at the end of the event. The auction raised a total of £775, the proceeds of which Jo , Viv and Ian kindly donated to EAG. The most exciting news on that day was the probability of organizing our own regional Fleece Show to be held next year. We will need to have at least 60 entries to make it viable. So get those fleeces skirted so that you can enter. More news on that later in the year. Thank you to everyone that attended the event on Saturday and we hope that you found the day interesting,
